Hip-hop fans were expecting a fiery response from Ace Jizzy and Bee Jay after Gattah released a diss track aimed at them. However, in a surprising turn, the duo decided to take a more mature approach and released a thank-you song titled Jah Bless, featuring the legendary The Daredevils duo—Marcus and GD.

The Daredevils Duo

The song, which was released on Monday, has been met with positive feedback, particularly due to GD’s standout vocals in the captivating chorus and the impressive 16-bar verses from Bee Jay, Marcus, and Ace Jizzy. The track runs for 3:57 minutes, following a verse-chorus format, and begins with Bee Jay’s powerful verse and resonant voice.

“Jah Bless” translates to “God bless”, with “Jah” being a term for God, popular in Rastafarian culture. In the song, Bee Jay reflects on his success despite the doubts and negativity surrounding his journey. He specifically references the recent awards they've won as proof of his progress and success.

The chorus, delivered by GD, echoes the powerful sentiment: “Whoever Jah bless, no man can curse. This isn’t checkers, but chess; we hit it like baseball.” This line emphasizes the unshakable blessings of God, with GD also recently being appointed as a judge in the ‘Dolo Amavotera Chakwera’ musical challenge.

Marcus, who is also a radio host and news anchor at Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), delivers a thought-provoking second verse, showcasing his lyrical depth. “Jesus and I were born into the same family through one hand. Don’t get it twisted; we were born with grace.” This line demonstrates his ability to weave complex themes into his music.

Ace Jizzy’s verse is also a highlight, known for his metaphorical lyrics. He delivers an impactful 16-bar verse, including the popular phrase “Hip hop imakhala ku Lilongwe” (Hip hop stays in Lilongwe), which has become a signature phrase for his fans. He also raps, “Jah bless, pano ndinayiphula kale n’nali Jobless…” referencing his rise from hardship to success.

Overall, “Jah Bless” isn’t just a thank-you song—it's a testament to the artists’ resilience and success, offering a powerful message of gratitude and triumph.
