Lilongwe-based hip-hop artist Eso Slique is set to launch the HIV Free Generation Tour this April, using music as a tool to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. The tour, themed “Music as a Medium for Sensitizing HIV/AIDS Awareness,” will take place across different areas in Lilongwe.
For Slique, this is more than just a musical event—it’s personal. He has lost close family and friends to AIDS and wants to help prevent more unnecessary deaths.
“Looking back at how many people I’ve lost to AIDS, I keep wondering why young people are still dying from this disease,” Slique shared. “What if they had discovered their status early? What if they had accepted their condition and sought treatment without fear?”
Driven by these questions, he decided to start this awareness campaign.
The tour will begin in Area 36 and Nathenje in April, followed by Chitedze and Mtandire in May. In June, it will reach Chinsapo, Area 25, and Dzaleka, then move to Lumbadzi in July, Mponela and Area 25 in August, before concluding in Area 24 in September.
Beyond the music, the tour will offer free HIV testing and counseling, self-test kits, condom giveaways, and other health-focused activities.
Slique, whose real name is Esosa Osas Omorodion, is calling for sponsors and partners to help make the campaign a success.
