Rap Beef Heats Up: Achina Gattah Fires Back at Ace Jizzy with ‘Mpando’

Malawi’s hip-hop scene is buzzing with controversy following the release of Achina Gattah’s latest track, Mpando, which takes direct shots at Lilongwe-based rapper Ace Jizzy and his associate Bee Jay. The diss track has sparked intense online debates, with fans clashing over the lyrical prowess and dominance of both artists.

The rivalry, which had been simmering for some time, exploded after Jizzy dropped Dodi dodi, a song that many interpreted as a subliminal diss aimed at Gattah. Featuring urban music heavyweights like Tay Grin and Saint, Dodi Dodi cleverly used football-themed metaphors, with one standout line suggesting that “Gattah should be substituted for underperformance.” This lyric quickly became a talking point, with fans speculating whether it was a direct jab at the Blantyre-based rapper.

Gattah wasted no time in responding. In what seemed like a calculated counterattack, he released Mpando yesterday, a song that not only defends his reputation but also aggressively calls out Jizzy and Bee Jay. The track has ignited heated discussions on social media, with fans comparing it to Dodi Dodi to determine which artist delivered the better diss.

Gattah took a different approach. When asked about Dodi Dodi, he coolly dismissed any knowledge of the track, responding with the cryptic remark, “Let that sink in.” His statement only added fuel to the fire, further fueling speculation that the tension between the two rappers is far from over.

This is not the first time Jizzy and Gattah have exchanged lyrical blows. Reports suggest that their rivalry has played out subtly in several previous songs, with each artist taking indirect shots at the other.

Hip-hop, known for its competitive nature and history of diss tracks, has always embraced rivalries as part of the culture. In Malawi, this clash has already drawn comparisons to legendary rap beefs, such as  JB vs. Phyzo in Malawi.

As the feud continues to grip the local hip-hop community, fans are left eagerly waiting to see whether Jizzy will return fire or if Gattah’s Mpando will claim victory in this lyrical showdown.
