Chiphadzuwa Exhibition Shines a Light on Female Visual Artists
The Chiphadzuwa Exhibition kicked off on Saturday at Kaliso Art Gallery, Four Seasons Garden in Lilongwe, showcasing the talents of nine female visual artists.
Now in its second edition, the exhibition, running until March 30, celebrates Women’s Month by empowering female artists and highlighting their contributions to the creative industry.
Founder and organizer Evelyn Chisambilo emphasized the need to create a platform for women in visual arts. “The country has many talented female artists who deserve recognition and support,” she said.
Presidential adviser on creative industries, Q Malewezi, praised the initiative, saying, “Not many female names come to mind in visual arts. This exhibition is changing that.” He also urged Malawians to support artists by purchasing their work.
One of the exhibitors, Tapiwa Mlinga, expressed her excitement about the opportunity to connect and collaborate with other female artists.
The opening night featured live performances by Neo Metalz and Chikondi Wiseman, creating an inspiring atmosphere as visitors engaged with the artists and their work.
