Singer Jetu has filed a complaint with the Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma) regarding the unauthorised use of her song Chakwaza in a MultiChoice Africa television commercial. Jetu claims the song was used without permission, violating the Copyright Act of Malawi.

In her complaint, Jetu’s management demands Cosoma intervene to hold MultiChoice Africa accountable, determine the financial gains from the commercial, and ensure proper compensation. Jetu's team warns of potential legal action if Cosoma does not address the issue.

Cosoma executive director Dora Salamba Makwinja stressed the importance of protecting intellectual property, while MultiChoice Malawi stated they were unaware of the issue and have contacted South African stakeholders to resolve it.
