Media personality Priscilla Kayira Nsane has opened up about her recent diagnosis of a serious brain infection, highlighting the importance of early medical intervention and personal hygiene.

Kayira disclosed on X (formerly Twitter) that doctors unexpectedly detected the infection following a routine check-up after she suffered head trauma in an accident. The condition, known as Neurocysticercosis, is a parasitic infection that, if left untreated, could lead to epilepsy.

"After my hospital visit due to the accident that caused head trauma, doctors made an unexpected discovery: I was diagnosed with Neurocysticercosis on the left side of my brain. It’s a frightening and serious condition, but the doctor reassured me that we caught it early. Thankfully, I haven’t experienced any symptoms yet, which is a relief and a blessing," she wrote.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Neurocysticercosis is a leading cause of epilepsy globally and is contracted through consuming undercooked pork, drinking contaminated water, or exposure to poor sanitation. The disease is caused by the pork tapeworm Taenia solium and is preventable through improved hygiene and food safety practices.

Following her diagnosis, Kayira Nsane has urged her followers to take their health seriously, emphasizing that illnesses can develop unnoticed.

"This experience has been an eye-opener, reminding me how crucial it is to take our health seriously, even when we feel fine on the outside," she shared.

Her revelation has sparked conversations about food safety, hygiene, and regular medical check-ups, encouraging more people to prioritize their well-being.
